When was my last post? Err. Actually it was ages ago– it was June, before I left for Manila. I’ve been really busy with all this looking-for-a-job-first-before-anything-else stuff. Yeah, I was fortunate to have a job offer as soon as I engaged myself into a week of job hunting. Well, that’s what I came here for so I guess it was okay. I’ve been really busy after that as well, just few days after the job offer; I started my training.

Being really busy and pre-occupied doesn’t take off my mind from travelling especially now that I’m closer to CALABARZON and Central Luzon Provinces. I’ve been constantly thinking about going somewhere new to me. Honestly, there’s not much to see in Manila. Or if you’re insistent there is, well, I believe you need money to be able to experience that.
Star City, MOA, Luneta Park were some of the few that you might want to visit when you’re here. But park and malls are too mainstream so I decided to go to Binondo with my co-trainees to experience what the Manila Chinatown has to offer.

I'm always wearing pink pag nag-lalakwatsa. Co-incidence po. :) |
Before going there, it is advisable to read first blog post of other travel/food bloggers. That’s what I did, I made a list of where to go, what to order, and the location of the resto based from what I read.
Name: Shanghai Fried Siopao
Location:This was an easy one - located just at the main street of Ong Pin Street. It’s a small store on a curb.
Food: Well, they sell a lot of foods but the only reason I went there was because of the Shanghai Fried Siopao as the name store suggest. Though the Siopao was little bit pricey (P16.00) for its size, add to that that I need to pay for the girls Siopao, it was such a delicious treat. The bottom of it was sort of toasted, almost like a toasted Siopao, but actually it was a fried. I don’t know how they fried it but hey, as long as it’s edible I’ll take it.
Name: Wai Ying Fast Food
Location: Benavidez Street. This one almost consumed all our energy, it was very hard to find. We were going to and fro Ong Pin St. until we finally decided to ask for directions. Damn. They really hide it well.
Food: I put on my list that here is where we are going to have our lunch. The place was full when we arrived so we waited for almost an hour just to get ourselves a seat. We ordered Roasted Duck Congee, Curry Beef Siomai, Century Egg Siomai, and Shrimp Chong Fan. We just ordered one for every dish – just the main purpose was to be able to taste everything on the list. Everything got a five star rating for me except the Century Egg Siomai, it was slimy as it went down my throat, err I think three star will do.

I forgot if it was Lemon Coke o Coke Lemon o Coke with Lemon. LOL |
Location: Salazar Street. You’ll pass this store going to Wai Ying Fast Food. You just have to read the signage ‘cause you might don’t see this one. When you got inside the store, you’ll think you’re not in the Philippines anymore. It was as if you’re in China or HK, it was a time space warp. LOL.
Food: Basically, we went here just to try the Green Tea Plum Cake. It was actually only Vega who was excited about the visit. I’m not a fan of green tea so I don’t know what to expect. Add to that that the small Cake, more like a Hopia looking sweet than a cake, cost P40.00! Vega bought one and let us take a bite..Poteek! Bumili kami ng tig-iisa! Hahahaha. It was delicious yet not too sweet. Seriously. Each of us bought different flavors then nag-kagatan kami. LOL.

Mag-lalaway ka sa sarap. |
Name: Don Bei Dumpling
Location:Yuchengco Street. Another store that almost dehydrated me to death. Who would have thought that on a deserted street hides a small store that serves the best dumpling I ever tasted.
Food: A plate cost a hundred with 14 pieces of steamed dumplings. Every bite was heaven. It was hot inside and the sauce added more flavor to it. Hay. Ginutom ako habang nagsusulat. Also, the staff that makes the dumplings does the procedures at the table just at the dining area. Customer can actually see it. Well, I don’t know kung gusto lang talaga nila ipakita ang pag-gawa o walang space. Jok! On a serious note, come and visit this place – it’s worth it.

Bitin. Arghhhhh. |
Name: Masuki
Location: Benavidez Street. Just a few walk from Wai Ying Fast Food.
Food: What was on my list was to try Beef Wanton Noodles and Special Siopao Taipao here. But as much as I want to, my body won’t permit me to do so. LOL. We were so FULL by the time we went here but as long as there’s food I’ll take it. Luisa and I ordered Siopao and softdrinks here, kami na lang talaga kumain – suko na si Pam at Vegs. The Siopao comes with a delicious sauce that they gave on such a generous amount, malulunod ka. The size of the Siopao was enough to make my tummy so FULL. Nagbiro pa si Lui, kasing laki daw ng B@#b$ niya yung Siopao. LOL. Nakakatawa kasi parang hindi naman. Peace Lui! Haha.
